Quick Start Guide

Getting Started with NoDrop - Configuration and Server Usage

Thank you for purchasing IRLToolkit NoDrop! Getting everything set up is a very simple process.

Configuration

After you link Discord and are assigned your NoDrop Command Channel, there's three simple steps to complete in order to be ready to go live.

  • Configure your streaming device (Phone, Backpack, or PC) to stream to NoDrop's ingests
  • Configure your fallback screen (what's shown to viewers when your streaming device is offline)
  • Configure your destinations (Twitch, Kick, etc)

Configuring Your Streaming Device

You'll want to start by configuring your streaming device. Below are some individual articles for configuring your streaming device, depending on what you're using.

Setting The Fallback Source

When you stop streaming on your streaming device, or you lose reception, NoDrop will automatically switch to your "Fallback Source". This can be one of the following types of media:

(Click the types for detailed information about usage and configuration.)

  • Image
    • An image which will be displayed scaled to the size of the screen
  • Video
    • A video file which will loop continuously
  • Ingest
    • Another incoming live stream from another streaming device. Use this if you want to accomplish a "fallback stream" setup.

Creating Stream Destinations

Lastly, you'll want to create some stream destinations. These are usually Twitch, Kick, or YouTube channels. We also support custom RTMP and SRT URLs for other platforms.

Server Usage

To begin using the server, type /startup into your NoDrop channel. This will start the server but not go live yet.

Begin streaming into the NoDrop ingest from your streaming device.

Type /status in the NoDrop channel to confirm that the streaming device's feed is being received.

Finally, you can type /startstream to have NoDrop begin streaming to your configured Destination(s).

You can also skip typing /startup and begin streaming immediately by using /startstream immediately.

Ending Stream

To end the stream, you can either enter /stopstream which will end the stream but leave the server on (however, it will shutdown after 10 minutes of inactivity.)

Or type /shutdown to immediately end stream as well as stop the server.

Attention:

By default, NoDrop servers have an instance uptime limit of 24 hours, after which they will shut down.

You can immediately start a new instance by typing /startup or /startstream after the previous instance has been shut down.
