Quick Start Guide
The basics to get you started using your IRLToolkit Cloud OBS Server
Logging In
Log in to your server dashboard at irl.run with the username and password provided to you in the IRLToolkit Server Dashboard Login email.
In most cases, this email arrives within an hour of purchase. However, during certain hours of the day, activation could be delayed 6 hours or more.
Attention:
Username and password will be different from the credentials you created when purchasing the server at account.irltoolkit.com
Once logged in, you should see a screen like this:
The cloud server instance is currently shutdown. Click [Start Server] and wait 2-3 minutes as it boots up.
Info:
This webpage can be loaded from most desktop or phone browsers for server remote control from anywhere.
The Parts
When the server is ready you should see a screen similar to this.
- Navigation menu at the top with links for Dashboard (currently shown), Remote OBS, Settings, current stream destination(s), shutdown and logout.
- Start and Stop buttons for the server. These control whether the server is streaming to your configured destinations like Twitch or YouTube.
- Ingest status summary including mute, bitrate and a legacy fix button for older, buggier RTMP stream devices.
- Scene switcher: Any scenes added in the OBS Remote will appear here.
Ingest
,Ingest Low-bitrate
, andIngest Offline
are special scenes controlled by IRLToolkit's automatic scene switcher. They are marked by a robot icon.
- Ingest Preview provides a low-latency preview of the Main ingest.
- With multiple ingests, only the Main ingest preview will be displayed here.
- Bitrate graph gives you a 1 minute historical look at your Main ingest's bitrate.
- With multiple ingests, only the Main ingest's bitrate will be displayed here.
- Server streaming status: uptime and bitrate status will be shown along the bottom for convenient at-a-glance updates.
Info:
Each of these panes can be collapsed or expanded by clicking on the header.
Attention:
If the server is on but not streaming and remains idle for longer than 10 minutes, it will automatically shut down. Starting stream or interacting with the Remote OBS will prevent an inactivity shutdown.
Attention:
The server has a 50 hour session uptime limit after which it will shutdown. You can reboot it immediately to start a fresh instance with a new 50 hour session timer.
If you intend to use the server for longer, we recommend fully rebooting the server manually roughly every 48 hours when platforms like Twitch would split the VOD anyway.
If you're interested in 24/7 server uptime, DM the @Support Bot in the IRLToolkit Discord.
Configuring the Stream Destination
If this is your first time configuring the server, you can also click the banner at the top of the dashboard
From the navigation menu, click Settings then Destinations:
If you plan on streaming to Twitch, click the [Twitch] button on the left side and authorize IRLToolkit to retrieve the stream key from your account.
For other destinations, click [Custom RTMP] or [Custom SRT] and fill out the form with the appropriate information from your target platform.
You can also create a [RTMP Pulldown] destination to generate a RTMP pulldown URL which can be used for monitoring or rebroadcasting.
After adding your destinations make sure to Enable them, as well.
Info:
You can add as many destinations as you need, however you can only enable as many as your server plan allows.
Standard provides 2 destination slots by default while Advanced provides 5.
You can purchase additional destination slots from the bililng portal.

Here you will find your IRLToolkit ingest stream keys. Keep these private.

Info:
These are the recommended stream encoders and apps for use with IRLToolkit. Other encoders and apps that support any of our ingest protocols: RTMP, RTMPS, SRT and SRTLA will also work.
When possible, we recommend against using RTMP(S) in a lossy network environment (like cellular data and wifi). Some devices, like drones, may only support RTMP.
Click the device names above for more individual device details, or click here for a list of guides for other encoders and phone apps.
Attention:
We suggest assigning your TVU, LiveU, or phone apps to the First Ingest to benefit from auto switching.
Devices that generally do not lose connection, like desktops, should be assigned to any ingest other than the First Ingest.
Ready to Stream!
That's the minimal setup to get your first IRLToolkit stream up and running.
Go back to the server Dashboard from the navigation menu and click [Start] to start streaming to your configured destination. Then go live with your encoder or app.
